How to Become a Crofton FCCLA Member!
FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience is a great way to meet people, develop confidence, and change the world! It's easy to become a member! Just follow these three easy steps!
1. Join an Fcs class, and talk to our advisor!
Joining a FCS class is the first step to becoming a member. Any student 7th through 12th grade can join FCCLA. If you have already taken an FCS class you can talk to our advisor, Mrs. Thoene. She can talk you through paying dues, getting involved, and answer any questions you have concerning FCCLA.
2. Pay your dues, and meet the officers and members!
Chapter dues are $30, and this amount will pay your national dues ($9), state dues ($4), and for your Crofton FCCLA t-shirt. If you cannot pay all this money at one time, we will work out a time-frame that works for you. Now that you've paid your dues, go meet the members and the officers! Talk to them about their favorite experiences, ask them questions, and find out about upcoming events.
3. Get involved, follow fccla social media, and read teen times!
Now you are "officially" a member! So, now go get involved! Join a committee, run for office, do a STAR project, try Power-of-One, and/ or attend a Clusters meeting! Follow FCCLA social media, whether it's on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Read the Teen Times or Teen Talk magazine, and learn what's going on currently in FCCLA. Have fun!
Crofton FCCLA Membership Plans
Currently, the Crofton Chapter has 22 affiliated members. We have gained nine members since last year. In the coming year, we plan to double are membership, and grow our chapter. We also want to have each member participate in at least one of the following: a fundraiser, STAR, Power of One, a community service project , and/or another FCCLA activity. We plan to participate in iRecruit in the next year, and any other state membership campaigns.
How we plan to grow our chapter
We plan to grow our chapter in several ways in the upcoming year. Before school starts, We will send out personalized invitations to incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th. Personalized invitations we also be sent out to any new students coming to our school and students who've expressed interest in FCCLA, but never have joined. We also will be having a Kick-Off Party at the beginning of the year. This meeting will help us to retain and to recruit new members. Our chapter is going to be very present on social media as well. Our Facebook page, Twitter page, and Instagram are growing in size. Our posts are reaching more people and becoming more frequent. By using social media, we will be able to introduce more people to FCCLA in our community, and grow our chapter membership.
MOst Valuable MEmber (MVM)
Each month, one or several members of our chapter are recognized as the most valuable member of the month. Each month a different person or persons are recognized for the things they have done to help our chapter grow and help the community.
